Reliable Horizontal Centrifugal Fire Water Pump for Industrial Use - China Suppliers & Factory
Working Principle
Fire protection pipeline pumps primarily utilise the centrifugal principle of operation. When the motor drives the impeller to rotate at high speed, the liquid inside the pump is subjected to centrifugal force, causing it to be flung from the centre of the impeller to its outer edge. At this point, a low-pressure zone forms at the centre of the impeller. Under the influence of atmospheric pressure, external liquid continuously enters the pump through the inlet, filling the space vacated by the flung-out liquid. The liquid flung toward the outer edge of the impeller gains high velocity and energy. Through the pump's volute or guide vanes, kinetic energy is converted into pressure energy, and the liquid is ultimately discharged from the pump outlet at a high pressure, thereby achieving the transportation of firefighting water.
Product Features
Highly efficient and energy-saving: Utilising advanced hydraulic design and high-quality motors, the pump's performance curve has been optimised to meet fire protection flow and pressure requirements while significantly reducing energy consumption. Compared to traditional fire pumps, operational efficiency has been greatly improved, resulting in long-term cost savings for users.
High reliability: Critical components are manufactured using high-strength, corrosion-resistant materials, such as ductile iron or stainless steel for the pump body, and bronze or stainless steel for the impeller. This ensures stable and reliable operation in harsh environments (e.g., high temperatures, humidity, or chemical corrosion), enabling continuous water supply for extended periods. This meets the stringent requirements for uninterrupted operation during firefighting operations.
Easy installation and maintenance: The compact structural design minimises floor space requirements, and flexible installation options allow for horizontal or vertical mounting based on site conditions. The inlet and outlet diameters are compatible with standard fire protection piping, facilitating seamless pipeline connections. Additionally, the modular design philosophy ensures high component interchangeability, enabling quick disassembly and replacement of wear parts during maintenance to reduce downtime and enhance maintenance efficiency.
Rapid startup: Equipped with high-performance startup devices and motor control systems, the pump can achieve rated operating conditions within a very short time (typically within seconds), swiftly providing the required pressure and flow for the fire suppression system, thereby gaining valuable time for initial firefighting operations.
Performance Parameters
Flow Rate Range: Depending on different application scenarios and fire protection requirements, we offer a variety of flow rate specifications ranging from 63 m³/h to 779 m³/h, capable of meeting the fire protection water flow requirements for various locations such as small buildings, commercial complexes, and large industrial plants. Whether it is the local fire extinguishing needs of small locations or the comprehensive fire protection water supply of large buildings, there is a suitable flow rate model available.
Pressure Range: The head corresponding to the rated pressure covers a range from 7 metres to 100 metres. Based on factors such as building height and fire protection system pipeline resistance, the required fire pump outlet pressure can be precisely matched to ensure that firefighting water can reach all locations at the fire scene smoothly, even in high-rise buildings or complex pipeline systems.
Motor Power: The motor power ranges from 1 kW to 200 kW and can be reasonably configured according to the flow rate, pressure parameters of the pump, and on-site power supply conditions to ensure stable operation of the pump under different working conditions and provide powerful power support for the efficient operation of fire pumps.
Application Scenarios
Such as shopping centres, office buildings, hotels, etc. These locations are densely populated and functionally complex. In the event of a fire, the flames can spread rapidly. Fire protection pipeline pumps can promptly provide sufficient pressure and flow to the fire hydrant system and automatic sprinkler system, effectively controlling the fire and creating favourable conditions for evacuation and firefighting operations.
Various factories, warehouses, and other industrial sites store large quantities of flammable and explosive raw materials or finished products, posing a high fire risk. As the core equipment of industrial fire protection systems, fire pump systems ensure that firefighting water can be rapidly delivered to the fire area upon a fire outbreak, suppressing fire development and minimising economic losses caused by fires.
With the development of cities, the number of high-rise buildings is increasing. These buildings are tall, making firefighting water supply challenging. Fire pump systems, with their high-pressure and high-flow performance characteristics, can overcome pressure losses caused by height, reliably delivering firefighting water to all floors of high-rise buildings, meeting the water supply requirements of high-rise building fire protection systems.
Public facilities such as hospitals, schools, sports arenas, and transportation hubs have high foot traffic and stringent fire safety requirements. Fire pump systems play a critical role in the fire safety systems of these facilities, providing a robust foundation for ensuring the safe operation of public facilities and the safety of occupants.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Fire protection pipeline pumps are specifically engineered to meet fire suppression standards, offering higher reliability, rapid startup capability (within seconds), and the ability to deliver high-pressure, high-flow water output continuously. Standard water pumps are designed for general water transfer and do not meet the stringent performance and material requirements mandated by fire safety codes.
The selection depends on the type and size of your building, the height of the structure, and the design requirements of your fire protection system. Our pumps cover a flow rate range of 63–779 m³/h and a head range of 7–100 metres. We recommend consulting a professional fire protection engineer to determine the exact specifications needed for your project.
Yes. Our fire protection pipeline pumps feature a flexible, compact design that supports both horizontal and vertical installation. Horizontal mounting is ideal for open mechanical rooms, while vertical mounting is well-suited for sites with limited floor space. The inlet and outlet diameters are fully compatible with standard fire protection piping in either configuration.
Routine inspections should be carried out regularly — at minimum on a monthly basis — to check for leaks, abnormal motor operation, and loose connections. Comprehensive maintenance, including impeller inspection, bearing lubrication, seal replacement, and pipe cleaning, should be performed at least once or twice per year. Periodic test runs under simulated fire conditions are also strongly recommended to confirm reliable startup and performance.
Yes, subject to proper model selection. When specifying a pump for use in flammable, explosive, or chemically aggressive environments, it is essential to select models with the appropriate motor protection rating (IP rating) and explosion-proof (Ex) certification. The pump body and wetted components should also be specified in corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel to ensure safe and reliable long-term operation.
The pump body is typically manufactured from high-strength ductile iron or stainless steel, both of which offer excellent durability and resistance to corrosion. The impeller is commonly made from bronze or stainless steel to withstand continuous exposure to water and varying temperature conditions. These material choices ensure that the pump maintains stable performance even in harsh operational environments such as high humidity, elevated temperatures, or chemical exposure.
